Winner: “Autumn Heron” By Jody Partin
“I took this photo handheld while kayaking at Crow’s Nest Natural Area Preserve near Fredericksburg, Virginia,” explains Partin. “It was a somewhat dark and gloomy October morning, but the autumn leaves seemed to pop. I paddled slowly and quietly until the heron was framed in a pleasing way.”
